ÜBER launches Über-Boat Service in Lagos

ÜBER has launched two weeks Über-Boat test service in LagosNigeria to increase the fantasy of movement and ease traffic.

The Uber-boats service was first test run to see its effectiveness by the transport service giants so that commuters can beat the heavy traffic in Lagos State – Nigeria.

Instead of charging the regular fee of N1,000 , Uber will be charging $1.30/trip which N500 in Nigerian currency,

Each trip is expected to carry over 35 people.

The Uber-Boat service is been launched four months after Brookes Entwistle, uber’s global head of business development expressed the the transportation company wanted to expand it tentacles in Africa.

Lagos state has an estimated population of over twenty two million (22,000000 people) which is said to be almost twice that of New York and London respectively on tally and is still growing.

This boats are expected to wok only during the week days between Ikorodu Ferry Terminal, Lagos northeast and the Falomo Cowries Terminal, according to the the statement Uber.

According to Lagos State government, commuters get stuck at least 30 hours in traffic weekly.

Lagos state governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu stressed it was necessary for a city like Lagos to have free flow of traffic because of its population and business activities and he applauded Uber-Boat service as welcome development.

The governor said they are aware of the time and productivity wasted due to insufficient transportation network in the state.

Uber as a company has commercial vehicle hire service, it was launched in 2009 with estimated twenty two thousand worker in United States and Outside, Uber is worth over eleven billion dollars in worth as a company.
